Benefits of Stainless Steel

Strength
A fundamental property of stainless steel is its strength. It remains incredibly strong at very high or low temperatures, making it a highly sought after metal for demand applications like aviation.

Easy to clean
As it is one of the most hygienic materials, its use in catering and medical applications is suitable. It doesn’t support the growth of bacteria and is easy to clean and sterilize, hence is low maintenance.

Aesthetics
Strength is not the only property of stainless steel. It also looks great which is why it is commonly featured in architecture. It adds a sleek and contemporary look to classic and modern spaces, without compromising on functionality.

Corrosion resistance
Stainless steel can fend off rust and water stains as it is highly resistant to corrosion. This is why stainless steel applications extend to outdoor as well as indoor applications at various pressure and temperature extremes.

Recyclable
Most of the stainless steel is made from recycled steel. Impressively, its qualities do not deteriorate once the metal is recycled, allowing it to be reused continuously and benefit the environment.

Application of Stainless Steel

Medical Equipment

Stainless steel is used extensively in modern medical equipment due to its ease of sterilization and high corrosion resistance. Surgery and dental instruments, surgical tables, and larger equipment such as MRI scanners are all made from stainless steel material.

Aircrafts and Aerospace

Aircraft must be able to resist a wide range of climatic conditions, including extremes in temperature, precipitation, and elevation pressures. The qualities of stainless steel enable it to easily address all of these issues, making it the most essential material for aircraft and aerospace applications.

Building and Construction

Stainless steel is a fantastic construction material since it is both strong and flexible. Because of its corrosion resistance, it provides structures a superb modern aesthetic while still being easy to maintain.

High-pressure Applications

Stainless steel’s strength makes it ideal for building, but it also makes it resistant to high pressure and temperatures. As a result, stainless steel is an excellent choice for high-pressure applications such as energy systems like power plants.

Food Industry

Stainless steel is advantageous in food and catering applications for many of the same reasons that it is advantageous in medical equipment. Stainless steel makes for fantastic, sharp knives and can endure high heat for cooking, in addition to being easy to clean.

FAQ

Q: What are the specifications of stainless steel?

A: Stainless steel specifications include properties, grades, product forms, sizes, material standards, composition, temper, etc. Generally, we determine stainless steel specifications based on customer applications.

Q: Which grade of stainless steel is best?

A: Grade 304 stainless steel stands out even among steel alloys for its high tensile strength, approximately 621 MPa (90 ksi). Because of its tensile strength, temperature, and corrosion resistance, 304 stainless steel is used for various applications.

Q: What are the 4 types of stainless steel?

A: The four general groups of stainless steel are austenitic, ferritic, duplex, and martensitic.

Q: How to check stainless steel grade?

A: Checking the grade of stainless steel requires many methods, here's a practical guide:

Check markings:

  • Look for engraved grades or material codes on the surface.

Magnetic Test: quick but inaccurate

  • Austenitic grades: Typically non-magnetic.
  • Ferritic, Martensitic, Duplex: Strongly magnetic.

Grind the steel and observe sparks:

  • Low-carbon stainless: Short, red-orange sparks; few branches.
  • High-carbon/Alloyed: Brighter sparks, possible forks.

Molybdenum (Mo) Test: Drop Murexide reagent on the surface.

  • Red-violet color = Mo present → Suggests 316/317/2205 grades.
  • No color change → Likely 304/430.

Nickel (Ni) Test: Use Dimethylglyoxime (DMG) reagent.

  • Bright red = Ni present → Confirms austenitic (304/316) or duplex grades.

Q: How to check steel grade?

A: You can find a steel's grade by measuring the amount of carbon in the steel, its other alloys, and how the manufacturer processes it. Steel is graded and categorized into four groups; Carbon, Alloys, Stainless, and Tool.

As one of the leading stainless steel manufacturers and suppliers in China, we warmly welcome you to buy high-grade stainless steel for sale here from our factory. All our products are with high quality and competitive price.
