Why Is Hastelloy G30 Pricing So High?
Before we talk numbers, remember what you are paying for. G30 is a high-chromium nickel-base alloy.
30% Chromium: This is significantly higher than most other nickel alloys, giving it superior resistance to oxidizing acids.
It is specifically engineered to resist corrosion in commercial phosphoric acid production-a notoriously aggressive environment.
2026 Current Market Factors
The price of forged fittings is currently driven by two main factors:
Raw Material Surcharges: Nickel has seen volatility this quarter, hovering in ranges that push base alloy prices between $45.00 and $80.00 USD per kg depending on the form.
Forging Complexity: Unlike simple pipe, forged fittings (ASME B16.11) require intensive heat treatment and machining. The "yield loss" for G-30 is high, which adds to the cost per piece.

1. Forged Elbows (90° & 45°)
The workhorse of any piping system. Because G-30 is harder to machine than 304/316 SS, the labor cost here is significant.

Why the range? 45° elbows are often non-standard stock items and may command a higher premium for lower quantities.
2. Forged Tees (Equal & Reducing)
Tees require a larger initial forging billet than elbows, increasing the material weight.

Medium Bore (1.5" - 2"): $550 – $900 USD / piece
3. Unions (Threaded/Socket Weld)
Crucial for maintenance-heavy zones. These require precision threading or machining of three separate components (nut, male end, and female end).

Sales Tip: If you can switch to a flange connection, it might sometimes be cheaper than a high-pressure forged union in G-30, depending on stock.
4. Couplings (Full & Half)
The most economical fitting, as they are machined from round bar stock with less waste.

Smart Buying Tips for Hastelloy G30
1. Buy by Weight for Large Orders
If you are outfitting a full reactor or skid, ask us to quote by $/kg for the total lot rather than per piece. For bulk orders (over 500 kg), we can often apply a rate closer to the forging billet cost plus a conversion fee, potentially saving you 15-20%.
2. Check the Pressure Class
Do you absolutely need Class 6000? Many engineers default to Class 6000 for "safety," but Class 3000 is often sufficient for chemical processing pressures and is significantly cheaper and lighter.
3. Lead Times Matter
Hastelloy G-30 is not always on the shelf in every size. "Rush" manufacturing can add 25% to the prices above. Planning 6-8 weeks ahead is the best way to secure the lower end of these price ranges.
