321H Stainless steel Pipe Spool is a general purpose austenitic stainless steel that is stabilized against carbide precipitation and designed to work within the carbide precipitation temperature range 427 to 816°C (800 to 1500°F). It is non-magnetic in the annealed condition and can be hardened only by cold working. Titanium is added to the alloy's composition to suppress grain boundary chromium carbide precipitation and reduce susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. 321H Stainless steel Pipe Spool is the higher carbon (0.04 - 0.10) version of the alloy. It was developed for enhanced creep resistance and for higher strength at temperatures above 1000oF (537°C). In most instances, the carbon content of the pipe enables dual certification.
321H stainless steel is a high-carbon variant of 321. Although it has the same machinability as 321, heat treatment cannot harden it. High carbon levels improve tolerance to high temperatures. Consequently, 321H is preferable when 321 cannot manage temperatures, particularly over 538°C. Furthermore, the inclusion of niobium improves intergranular corrosion resistance. 321H Stainless steel Pipe Spool offers some acid corrosion resistance in a variety of conditions. Even though its resistance is strong at low temperatures, it can endure a 10% acid solution at high temperatures. The main exceptions are chlorine and sulfuric solutions, which it does not work well, regardless of temperature.
