321 stainless steel pipe spool is an austenitic stainless steel that is stabilized with titanium. 321 also contains chromium as well as nickel and in addition to the titanium, provides improved inter-granular corrosion resistance. 321 in non-magnetic w/similar corrosion resistance to type 304. This material is used for welded equipment that can't be annealed. In addition, it's used for equipment that is operated between 800 and 1500°F.
321 stainless steel pipe spool is tempered with titanium, in addition to the 18/8 chromium-nickel ratio, providing the alloy with additional resistance to intergranular corrosion caused by heat treatment. It is suitable for use in the temperature range of 430 to 816°C. 321 stainless steel pipe spool possess excellent mechanical strength and are corrosion-resistant even when immersed in water. Heavy welding machines and constantly changing surroundings are the most common uses. The addition of titanium, while enhancing strength, adversely affects the machinability of Type 321. The metals can only be welded using specific welding methods. Type 321 stainless steel pipe spool has excellent formability and does not need to be connected after welding, thereby extending this limit. This grade can withstand temperatures as low as cryogenic. It is preferred over 304 when stronger creep and tear resistance is required.
