Stainless steel 316LN flange is a modified material based on austenitic stainless steel 316L, and its performance is further optimized by adding nitrogen (N). SS 1.4429's chemical composition includes about 16-18% chromium (Cr), 10-14% nickel (Ni), 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), and low carbon content (≤0.03% C) and 0.1-0.16% nitrogen (N). The addition of nitrogen significantly improves the strength and corrosion resistance of the material, especially at high temperature or welding state, which can effectively inhibit the precipitation of carbides and avoid the risk of intergranular corrosion.
Stainless steel 316LN Flange, is refined through an electroslag remelting (ESR) process, resulting in enhanced grain homogeneity and fewer non-metallic inclusions compared to 316L. Additionally, the nitrogen content in 316LN is higher than that of 316L, leading to improved material strength while retaining excellent ductility at cryogenic temperatures.
