Stainless steel 304L flange is made of ultra-low carbon (≤0.03%) austenitic stainless steel that serves as an important pipe connector. SS 304L significantly improves the resistance to intergranular corrosion in the welding area by reducing the carbon content, and is particularly suitable for working conditions where post-weld heat treatment is not possible. UNS S30403's chemical composition (18-20% chromium, 8-12% nickel) imparts excellent oxidation resistance and acid corrosion resistance, while also having high strength (tensile strength ≥485 MPa) and low-temperature toughness (can withstand -196°C).
Stainless steel 304L flanges come in various types, including weld neck (WN), long weld neck (LWN), slip-on (SO), socket weld (SW), blind, plate, threaded, lap joint, orifice, and spectacle blind flanges. Additionally, there are special products available, such as rings, forgings, discs, and flange sleeves, catering to diverse industrial applications and requirements. The manufacturing process of Stainless Steel 304L Flange covers hot forging/cold forging, solution annealing and precision CNC machining. The surface is electrolytically polished or passivated to meet food grade (FDA/3-A) and high clean environment (such as semiconductor) requirements.
SS 304L is widely used in petrochemical (anti-sulfide corrosion), pharmaceutical (CIP system), LNG cryogenic storage and transportation and coastal engineering. S30403 is more resistant to welding corrosion than 304 stainless steel and more cost-effective than 316L.
