Nickel 201 Flange

JN ALLOY supplies Nickel 201 SO flanges, Nickel 201 WN flanges, UNS N02201 blind flanges, 2.4061 Nickel 201 plain flanges, ASTM B564 UNS N02201 SW flanges, Nickel 201 spectacle blind flanges, Nickel 201 threaded flanges, 2.4068 spacer ring, UNS N02201 paddle blind/blank, Nickel 201 bleed/test/drip ring, Nickel 201 reducing flange.

Nickel 201 flange is a pipe connector made of high-purity nickel (Ni 201). Its nickel content exceeds 99% and its carbon content is strictly controlled (≤0.02%). It is a commercial pure nickel material. Compared with Nickel 200, Nickel 201 significantly improves its resistance to intergranular corrosion in high-temperature environments by reducing the carbon content, and is particularly suitable for working conditions with temperatures exceeding 315°C. Nickel alloy 201 can still maintain excellent oxidation resistance and structural stability at high temperatures, while also having excellent creep resistance, making it an ideal choice for high-temperature and high-pressure sealing systems. Jinie Technology (Jiangsu) Co., LTD supply all different types and scales of flanges. Please feel free to contact us for further product information and pricing.

Corrosion Resistance of Nickel 201

Nickel 201 flanges perform well in highly corrosive media, especially caustic alkalis (such as molten sodium hydroxide), hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc. Alloy 2.4061 flange has extremely strong resistance to corrosion in reducing acid environments (such as phosphoric acid) and neutral/alkaline salt solutions. UNS N02201 is far more resistant to stainless steel, so it is widely used in reactors, evaporators and chlor-alkali production equipment in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Alloy 201's high tolerance to seawater, salt spray and atmospheric corrosion also makes it a reliable choice for marine engineering and coastal facilities.

High Temperature and Mechanical Properties

Nickel 201 can maintain stable mechanical strength in high temperature environments (up to 600°C). UNS N02201's typical room temperature tensile strength is 380-480 MPa, yield strength is 110-170 MPa, and elongation can reach 50%, with high toughness and ductility. Even at low temperatures (-196°C), the material has no tendency to become brittle and is suitable for cryogenic applications. The low thermal expansion coefficient (13.3 μm/m·K) and good thermal conductivity (70 W/m·K) at high temperatures effectively reduce the risk of deformation caused by thermal stress.

Processing and Manufacturing of Alloy 201 Flange

Although Nickel 201 flange has a low hardness (HB 80-120), cold working can easily cause work hardening, and intermediate annealing (750-925°C) is required to restore plasticity. Flange manufacturing often uses hot forging or machining processes. TIG/MIG processes are recommended for welding, matching Nickel 61 or ERNi-1 welding materials. After welding, pickling is required to remove the oxide layer to restore corrosion resistance. The finished flange must comply with ASTM B160 (bars), B564 (forgings) and other standards, and PT/RT testing can be performed to ensure that there are no defects.

Application Areas of Nickel 201 Flange

Nickel 201 flanges are widely used in nuclear energy (uranium enrichment equipment), aerospace (rocket engine fuel pipelines), petrochemicals (cracking furnace high-temperature pipelines) and electronics industry (semiconductor manufacturing equipment). Its non-magnetic properties also make it suitable for high-precision instruments such as MRI medical equipment. By matching PTFE/graphite gaskets, an all-nickel sealing system can be constructed to achieve long-life safe operation under strong corrosion and extreme temperature conditions.
