Monel Alloy K500 Sheets consist of Nickel (67%), Copper (30%), Iron (2%), and other trace elements such as Manganese (1%) and Silicon (0.5%). They possess superior mechanical properties such as a high strength-to-weight ratio, low thermal conductivity, excellent oxidation resistance, good formability, and good weldability. In addition to these features, Monel K500 Plates are resistant to stress corrosion cracking, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion in most alkaline media and organic acids like acetic acid or formic acid.The modified Monel K500 Plate contains controlled additions of Titanium and Aluminium added to its alloy. This grade of Nickel K500 Foil has been subjected to a heat treatment, a procedure which improves not only its tensile strength but also its toughness properties. Monel K500 plate combines the excellent corrosion resistance of MONEL alloy 400 with the added advantages of greater strength and hardness. The increased properties are obtained by adding aluminum and titanium to the nickel-copper base, and by heating under controlled conditions so that submicroscopic particles of Ni3 (Ti, Al) are precipitated throughout the matrix. The thermal processing used to effect precipitation is commonly called age hardening or aging. The material has very high melting point of 1350 degrees Celsius which makes it applicable in high temperature applications.
