Incoloy 800 Round Bar is a mix of nickel and chromium. It has great strength and resists oxidation and carburization. Alloy 800 Rod is extremely resistant to corrosion, even in acidic environment. Incoloy 800 Bars are used under high temperature applications requiring optimum rupture and creep properties.

 

Incoloy 800 Round Bar (UNS N08800) may be annealed after cold working. Annealing should be done at 982°C (1800°F) for 15 min and then the alloy should be air cooled. Incoloy 800 Bar can be hot worked at temperature ranges of 871-1232°C (1600-2250°F).

 

Alloy 800 is a common material used for equipment. It resists corrosion and has high strength. It also protects against oxidation, carburization, and other harmful effects from high temperatures. The Chromium in the alloy imparts resistance to oxidation and corrosion.

 

The high Nickel content maintains an austenitic structure so that the alloy is ductile. The Nickel also contributes resistance to scaling, general corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. The iron content provides resistance to internal oxidation.

High-performance

 

Incoloy 800 round bars are known for being a strong super-alloy. They can resist corrosion in very tough environments. And it all comes down to its composition.

 

Incoloy 800 round bars have a high nickel content. This gives them good resistance to sulphidation. The iron helps reduce the risk of internal oxidation. The chromium shows excellent resistance to oxidation and general corrosion.

 

This chemical balance makes Incoloy 800 better at resisting many types of corrosion. This includes scaling and stress-corrosion cracking, particularly chloride stress corrosion due to the formation of metal chlorides.

 

Corrosion resistance

 

In many cases, the corrosion rate of Incoloy 800 round bars has been shown to begin rapidly, then ease to a slower, steadier rate. This is due to the fact that polarisation resistance increases with prolonged exposure.

 

Studies show that Incoloy 800 round bars have high corrosion resistance. This is true when they come into contact with:

 

- Molten carbonates

 

- Molten eutectic salt deposits

 

- Hydrogen peroxide

 

- Hydrogen chloride in moist air

 

Research in this area may be limited. However, it shows high resistance to sulphuric acid.

 

It corrodes at a rate of only 0.51mm per year (20mpy). This happens when exposed to 5% sulphuric acid at 50 degrees. This information comes from research by the Nickel Institute.

 

High - temperature resistance

 

Incoloy 800 rods are engineered to excel in high - temperature environments. Their unique alloy composition allows them to endure continuous high temperatures of up to 815°C with remarkable stability. Even during short - term exposures to temperatures well beyond this threshold, they maintain their structural integrity.

 

The nickel, iron, and chromium in Incoloy 800 bars create a stable oxide layer on the surface. This happens when the bars are exposed to high temperatures. This oxide layer acts as a protective barrier, preventing further oxidation and diffusion of harmful elements into the material. The high nickel content is important for improving the material's resistance to heat damage.

 

Nickel has a high melting point. It helps keep the alloy's crystal structure stable at high temperatures.

 

Weldability

 

Despite its excellent performance, Incoloy 800 stainless steel bar has good processability. It can be shaped using common metal processing techniques such as turning, milling, and forging. In welding, methods like TIG (tungsten inert gas) and MIG (metal inert gas) work well for Incoloy 800.

Quality Assurance
