Alloy 31 flange(UNS N08031, 1.4562) is a high-performance corrosion-resistant alloy flange made of nickel-chromium-molybdenum-iron-based superalloy (UNS N08031), designed for extreme corrosive environments. UNS N08031 flange is composed of about 31% nickel as the core component, supplemented by 27% chromium, 6.5% molybdenum and 1.2% copper. The addition of nitrogen further enhances the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Its PREN value reaches 45+, which is significantly better than conventional stainless steel. The unique combination of ingredients makes it perform well in strong corrosive media such as concentrated sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and acid halides, especially in high temperature (up to 550℃) chloride ion environment. Alloy 31 still maintains excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Jinie Technology (Jiangsu) Co., LTD supply all different types and scales of flanges. Please feel free to contact us for further product information and pricing.

Alloy 31 Flanges Manufacturing Process

Alloy 31 flange strictly follows international standards such as ASME B16.5/B16.47 and DIN/EN, covering WN (weld neck welding), SO (slip on welding), SW (socket welding), LJ (lap joint welding) and other types, and the pressure level covers Class 150 to 2500. It is manufactured by advanced hot forming (1100-1250℃) or cold processing technology, and combined with solution annealing (1150-1200℃ water quenching) treatment to ensure intergranular corrosion resistance. The flange sealing surface can be processed in various forms such as RF, FF, RTJ, and the surface is pickled and passivated to enhance the stability of the passivation film.

Application of Alloy N08031 Flange

Alloy 31 flange is widely used in chemical reactors (concentrated sulfuric acid cooling system), offshore platform seawater treatment, oil and gas industry acid gas field pipelines, pharmaceutical industry hydrochloric acid recovery devices and other scenarios. Alloy 1.4562's outstanding advantages are: resistance to boiling concentration 70% sulfuric acid and 50% phosphoric acid corrosion, life in seawater + hydrogen sulfide composite environment is more than 10 times longer than 316L, excellent welding compatibility, while maintaining 650MPa high tensile strength and 35% elongation, taking into account both safety and economy.
